Brow Lift Fundamentals
A brow lift surgery is an anti-aging cosmetic surgical procedure to correct the sagging of the eyebrows. In some cases, the procedure may be conducted to improve the vision which may have been obstructed due to drooping eyebrows. In many cases, a brow lift is combined with forehead lift, eye lift, rhinoplasty, or face lift surgeries.
Types of Brow Lift
Classic and endoscopic brow lift are two types of brow lift procedures. The classic brow lift involves a single continuous incision starting at the level of the ears and moving up around the hair line. The surgeon will make the incision in a way to minimize scar exposure.
In case of an endoscopic brow lift, a few shorter incisions will be made in the scalp. A scope will be inserted through one of the incisions and the necessary changes will be made from the other incisions. This procedure is more advanced and less invasive compared to the traditional brow lift.
A brow lift surgery will ensure that unsightly frown lines on the bridge of the nose, the horizontal creases on the forehead, and the loose skin on the forehead are all reduced or removed. The skin on forehead and face becomes loose and sagging because of exposure to the sun and elements. People who frown and have a tendency to laugh a lot also end up with expression lines on their faces. With a brow lift, the patient will have a younger and more appealing facial profile.
The recovery period will depend on the type of brow lift procedure performed. Sutures in either case will be removed after about a week. Some amount of bruising and swelling may be experienced in the first few days, which may also cause discomfort to eyes and cheeks. Itching may be experienced for several weeks after the surgery. Ice packs can be applied gently to the affected areas to provide comfort. Most patients can resume their normal work routine and activities within a week to 10 days following the surgery.
